CHARLESTON, W.Va. — In this Charleston Gazette photo, a steady stream of woody debris, plastic jugs, tires and discarded household items flows down the Kanawha River past downtown Charleston on Tuesday afternoon.
Rain-swollen creeks and streams flowing into the Kanawha upstream of the Marmet Locks and Dam are believed to be the source of the flotsam, since U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials said there have been no recent flood debris releases from Bluestone Dam.
