BECKLEY, W.Va. — Two electric poles fell at Appalachian Bible College in Bradley Monday, but no one was injured, Bradley Fire Department Chief Bruce James reported.

Around 10:43 a.m., officials said, the driver of a Lusk Garbage Disposal truck was collecting garbage at the college when the truck made contact with a low-hanging powerline.

“When he caught it, it stretched the wire and pulled those two poles down, and almost pulled two more down,” said James.

Bradley firefighters secured the grounds so that Appalachian Power crews could be notified and electrical current could be stopped, he added.

Phil Moye, spokesman for the power company, said more than 500 customers lost power in the Sand Branch area when the poles fell…
