Students’ urban hike takes artistic route

Charleston Daily Mail photo by Craig Cunningham Artist Charles Jupiter Hamilton talked with Charleston Montessori students at a mural he is painting on the city’s West Side Wednesday. The students were on an urban hike when they stopped by the side of the Tighe Bullock building at 216 Washington St. W. The school takes students on 10 hikes each year. Some of them are nature-oriented and others are geared toward urban activities like public art projects. West Side Main Street and several private donors are paying for the Hamilton mural.
