FAIRMONT, W.Va. — “I’m so happy.”

“This one is my dog.”

These were just some of the phrases Fairmont State University students were saying Tuesday afternoon when the Office of Student Activities hosted an event called Paws to Relax for students at Main Street in the Falcon Center.

The Office of Student Activities invited Pet Helpers Inc. to visit the campus with some of the pets it fosters. Pet Helpers is a nonprofit, foster-based animal rescue organization, said Kathy Vincent, a volunteer for the organization.

According to the Pet Helpers website, the animal rescue does not have a facility to house the animals it serves. Instead, animals are housed by foster families. Pet Helpers has about 50 foster homes, Vincent said.
