PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The Eddy family of Parkersburg needs your vote.
The Eddys of Parkersburg — Jake on the banjo, Carter on the mandolin and Mary playing the guitar — hope to win an online vote and $10,000 from Wal-Mart in Band-Aid’s video contest.
Mary Eddy and her sons Jake, 14, and Carter, 10, have reached the top 12 in the national Band-Aid jingle contest. Using Band-Aid’s “Stuck on Me” jingle, the Eddys created a “Stuck on Bluegrass” jingle for the video contest.
Online voting began Tuesday and continues through June 17 atwww.band-aid.com/stuckonme. People can vote once a day for their favorite jingle.
Videos of a child, children or family singing the jingle were accepted from April 14 through May 26. A panel of judges selected the 12 finalists.
The winning video by popular vote will receive a $10,000 gift card from Wal-Mart.
Mary said the $10,000 would come in handy to help the family with its grocery bills and other expenses. Mary and her husband, Chad, recently adopted two children from Ghana, Africa, Joyce, 11, and Desmond, 6.
The three Eddys sing in three-part harmony during the 30- to 40-second jingle.
“Our version is bluegrass. The kids love bluegrass,” Mary said.
Jake plays the banjo and Carter the mandolin in the jingle. They are members of the band Simply Bluegrass, along with their grandfather Al Barnett. Mary, a member of the band The Janes, accompanies her sons on the guitar in the Band-Aid contest.
Jake won second place for bluegrass banjo playing at the Vandalia Gathering in Charleston over Memorial Day weekend.
