A white-breasted nuthatch pokes its head out of a bird feeder in St. Albans. Nuthatches are non-migratory and stay in pairs year-round, according to the Audobon society. These little birds enjoy bird feeders though they are usually seen hopping down tree trunks head first. The birds sometimes join flocks of chickadees, chicklets, and woodpeckers to roam the woods but stay close to their own territory.
