MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Everyone in Monongalia County Schools will soon be familiar with the work of two students at North Elementary School.

Third grader Pearl Zhang and fifth grader Lizzy Sidwell were announced as the winners of a contest to design artwork for a district food delivery truck Jan. 6. The truck, now with a little more character, was driven to the school for the artists to see.

Both students said they were surprised upon being announced as the winners.

“I feel like I’m about to fall,” Sidwell said, adding that she actually missed the day when students came up with their designs and drew hers directly on her submission page.

The theme for the contest was healthy eating and physical activity. Zhang said she drew inspiration from a friend who routinely incorporated smiley faces into foods…
