RACHEL, W.Va. — Cast after cast, veterans from the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility out of Clarksburg waited patiently for a fish to bite their line.
Catching mostly bluegill, those who served our country through the military were able to enjoy a day by the lake Thursday. This fishing event was held at the Joanne Sportsman Club in Rachel.
The sportsman club hosted the fishing day for the veterans as a way of thanking and honoring them for their service.
One veteran, Paul Lynch, who served in the Navy for four years as a parachute rigger, was so eager to get to catch a fish, he and another veteran, Pete Wasman, ventured out to the shore as soon as they were done with lunch.
