CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Hundreds converged on the Charleston Town Center for the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Elephant Brunch on Thursday. Parents, children and a host of onlookers joined Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson and a coterie of clowns for the pachyderm picnic as the giant creatures paraded through town. However, today’s meal, more of a mid-afternoon snack than a traditional mid-morning brunch, is likely one of the last of its kind, as a 2018 phase-out the animal act was announced last month. The circus will be held at the Charleston Civic Center through Sunday.
