CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Since many of the area Christmas parades were rained out this season, the folks at Pier 54 Marina, near Dunbar, decided to cruise up river to Charleston this Saturday evening.

Ten or so boats, all decked out with Christmas lights, are scheduled to leave the marina at 5:30 p.m.

“A bunch of us were in the St. Albans parade last weekend and thought it would be fun to go up to Charleston this weekend,” Pier 54 owner Bannon Eads said. “The only thing that might stop us is if there’s a lot of fog on the river.”

The boats will go up as far as the West Virginia State Capitol, and then turn back and dock at Haddad Riverfront Park…
