If all had gone as originally planned, West Virginia lawmakers were supposed to convene in a special session on Monday to continue efforts to “reform” public education.
Gov. Jim Justice and legislative leaders had designed the plan to save on costs, since lawmakers were already scheduled to be in Charleston for an interim session.
But even the best laid plans can go awry. Lawmakers appear to remain far apart on the best path forward, so Senate President Mitch Carmichael has already said education reform won’t be on the table. …
