OKLAHOMA CITY — The No. 2-seed WVU women’s basketball team couldn’t stop Baylor’s march to a fourth straight Big 12 Conference tournament title Monday, March 10.

Niya Johnson sank four free throws in the final 21.1 seconds, as the top-seeded Lady Bears held off WVU, 74-71.

Johnson made her final two free throws with 4.7 seconds left. The Mountaineers had a chance to tie, but Linda Stepney’s 3-pointer bounced off the rim at the buzzer.

WVU came up short in its quest for the school’s first tournament title since the 1989 team won the Atlantic 10 Conference event.

The Mountaineers (29-4) saw their 12-game winning streak dating to Jan. 25 come to an end…
