MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — There is a distinct, maybe even somewhat unusual recipe followed by head coach Dan D’Antoni when putting together the Marshall men’s basketball team that will play 20th-ranked WVU on Thursday, Dec. 17, in Charleston.
The Thundering Herd (3-6), winners of three straight heading into the in-state matchup, are part foreign discoveries with a sprinkle of junior-college prospects and Division I transfers.
The bulk of the Herd’s roster is homegrown.
“When I first became the head coach (in 2014), I told myself then that I wasn’t going to overlook any West Virginia kids,” said D’Antoni, who is 14-27 in his two seasons at Marshall.
