MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — On Monday, Oct. 6, WVU President E. Gordon Gee provided an update about the State of the University, including announcing the creation of a Center for Big Ideas.
During his State of the University address, Gee said the Center for Big Ideas will be led by former W.Va. Gov. Gaston Caperton.
“The center will bring together faculty staff and students from across the university to tackle the big issues facing this state and indeed this country,” Gee said.
That includes areas such as energy, rural health, STEM education, and arts and culture.
Gee also talked about a new initiative for students titled Project 168. There are 168 hours in a week, but many students are only spending 18 hours in the classroom.
The project will look to bring academic and professional success into the other hours of the week, Gee said.
