Tucker County ski resort opens four-wide zipline

The Herald-Dispatch

DAVIS, W.Va. — The new color-splashed billboards just put up in Canaan Valley say it all, Timberline — “Ski, Zip.”

West Virginia’s only family-owned ski resort, Timberline Four Seasons Resort in Davis, W.Va., has joined a growing number of ski resorts around the country installing ziplines as an added year-round attraction.

Opening on Saturday, Jan. 25, the zipline attraction can have up to four people zipping side-by-side 1,000 feet past the massive, four-story Timberline Lodge with a bird’s eye view of the lodge, the terrain parks and several converging ski trails.

Launched from a massive tower 50 feet in the air, the zipline slopes down with riders traveling at speeds at up to 25 miles an hour before braking and landing at a 35-foot-high tower that sits near one of the resort’s ski lifts and within view of the resort’s ski-in, ski-out Timberline Hotel.

The first four-person zip in the state opens to the general public Saturday, Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as next Saturday, Feb. 8, at that time. The new attraction is one of only a couple four-person zipline attractions in the East (Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire has a four-person zipline).
