Suddenlink investing $40 million in W.Va. network

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Suddenlink plans to spend nearly $40 million in West Virginia this year, investing in improvements to its network and Internet speeds across the state.

The company, the largest cable provider in the state, said once the improvements are complete, it will have invested nearly $375 million in network improvements since it acquired Charter Communications’ West Virginia cable operations in 2006.

The investments are being made as part of a company wide program to boost broadband speeds across the country.

“This year, in addition to our regular capital spending, we are making additional investments in the state as part of Operation GigaSpeed, through which we plan to deliver a 1 gigabit service to various communities this year and others in the near future,” spokesman Michael Kelemen said.

Suddenlink announced Operation GigaSpeed in August.
