CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A joint stipulation agreement was filed with the state Public Service Commission on Monday in the FirstEnergy base rate case.
The agreement calls for a $63 million increase in annual rates for West Virginia customers of FirstEnergy subsidiaries Mon Power and Potomac Edison.
FirstEnergy had requested as much as a $152 million increase earlier this year in a case that began April 30.
But Susan Small, a spokeswoman for the PSC, noted Monday that the agreement — reached after negotiations among the utilities, PSC staff, the PSC’s Consumer Advocate Division, the West Virginia Energy Users Group and Walmart — is still subject to the commission’s final approval.
“They can accept it. They can throw it out. They can make adjustments to it,” Small said.
