BECKLEY, W.Va. — Fayette County Schools is moving forward on a plan to relocate all Collins Middle School students to the Oak Hill High School complex for the 2016-2017 school year, confirmed Fayette Superintendent Terry George.
George said the county hopes to bring in large, 14-classroom portables and, pending final approval by State Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano, have the modules in place and utilities hooked up by July 1.
If approved, all Collins Middle students grades 5 to 8 will moved.
Eight hundred Collins Middle School students have been displaced across three campuses since the freestanding gym and main classroom structure were deemed unsuitable for occupancy in December 2014 and January 2015, respectively.
