New WV Press Association officers elected

The membership of the West Virginia Press Association elected new officers and board members during their annual meeting at Oglebay Resort Saturday morning.

Perry Nardo of the Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register will be the president for 2013-14. Ed Dawson of the Herald-Dispatch in Huntington will be vice president of dailies, and Matt Yeager of the Nicolas Chronicle will be the vice president of weeklies. The treasurer is Jim Spanner of the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, and David Corcoran of the Glenville Democrat & Pathfinder will serve on the board as past president.

Directors elected for terms expiring in 2014 are Brian Jarvis of the Exponent Telegram in Clarksburg, Chuck Jessup of the Times West Virginia in Fairmont, and David Hedges of Spencer Newspapers.

Directors elected for terms expiring in 2015 are Alan Waters of The Daily Athenaeum in Morgantown, Sandy Buzzerd of the Morgan Messenger in Berkeley Springs, and James Heishman of The Moorefield Examiner.

Directors elected for terms expiring in 2016 are James McGoldrick of the St. Marys Oracle, Trip Shumate of Charleston Newspapers, and Craig See of The Spirit of Jefferson in Charles Town.

All were elected unanimously.
