WHEELING, W.Va. — The Ohio County Development Authority on Tuesday approved three additions to The Highlands that officials say will bring at least 140 jobs to the retail development.
The new tenants approved Tuesday include a manufacturing plant, a physical therapy clinic and an engineering firm.
Board members approved a $4 million investment that will bring East Coast Metals, a manufacturing company associated with Kalkreuth Roofing, to a site near the Silgan Plastics plant behind the Cabela’s Distribution Center. Development Authority President Randy Wharton said the 57,000-square-foot plant will include 50,000 square feet of production area and 7,000 square feet of office space and will eventually employ 125 workers in well-paying jobs.
Wharton also said Ohio Valley Medical Center will operate a physical therapy facility in an 84,000-square-foot section of the Town Center I building formerly occupied by Sears. The third addition will be Blue Racer, an engineering firm associated with gas and oil industry that will locate next to OVMC’s physical therapy clinic.
Wharton said Blue Racer will bring 12-15 new jobs but he had no employment figures available for the OVMC facility.
Following the development authority meeting, the Ohio County Commission held a short meeting to handle routine business.
Commissioners agreed to send a letter to the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration in support of a license for the Texas Roadhouse expected to open early in 2016 at The Highlands. The panel also approved paying annual dues to the National Association of Counties and the Ohio Valley Regional Transportation Authority and approved a request for hotel/motel tax funds by the Harlem Ambassadors.
