HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Having achieved the goal of becoming president of Marshall University, Jerome Gilbert has set a new objective of having 15,000 students enrolled at the school by the year 2020.
Gilbert shared his goal for enrollment and how supporting faculty and research and increasing student retention and graduation rates would tie in with increasing enrollment and growing the university’s profile during a meeting with The Herald-Dispatch Editorial Board Monday.
Marshall’s current enrollment is at 13,321, and Gilbert’s goal would require the university to increase enrollment at a rate of 2.5 percent each year, he said.
