Marshall board votes to raise tuition this fall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University’s Board of Governors approved on Wednesday a tuition and fee increase that will bring in an additional $1.5 million in revenue to the university.

The action was opposed by one member of the board, which also approved the budget for fiscal year 2015 during its three-hour meeting in the Shawkey Room the Memorial Student Center.

The across-the-board tuition and fee increases will go into effect for the fall 2014 semester.

In-state undergraduate students will pay an additional $155 per semester. Out-of-state students will pay an additional $290. Tuition and fees for metro students would increase by $325.

That will bring the grand total of tuition and fees per semester to $3,262 for in-state students, $7,513 for out-of-state students and $5,753 for metro students…
