Man found guilty in WVU freshman’s murder

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A   jury found Robert Hernandez Jr. guilty of first-degree murder Thursday, Jan. 29.

The jury also recommended that Hernandez not get mercy (eligibility for parole).

Hernandez was accused of fatally stabbing WVU freshman Devante’ Waites at downtown nightclub Bent Willey’s in  August.

The jury deliberated for about 2 1/2 hours, returning its verdict at about 4:45 p.m.

The prosecution, following the guilty verdict, put two witnesses on the stand who presented information about Hernandez’s criminal history…
