TRIADELPHIA, W.Va. — The left lane of the Interstate 70 east bridge over Dallas Pike Road could be closed for weeks after a truck carrying a large load became wedged beneath the overpass Tuesday afternoon, bending one of its beams.
The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m., forcing police to shut down Dallas Pike Road between the Interstate 70 for hours as crews from Middle Creek Garage worked to free the load.
The truck belongs to Crossroads Transport of Okawville, Ill. Sheriff’s Cpl. Rod Vaught said the driver would be cited but did not provide the man’s name. No injuries were reported.
A West Virginia Division of Highways crew arrived at the scene to assess the damage to the bridge. An officer from the Public Service Commission Transportation Enforcement Division also responded.
