FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Dreams do come true. Through hard work and dedication, it’s always possible to turn a lifelong dream in to reality, and Fairmont native Joey Garcia is living proof of just that.

Kids often change their minds multiple times when it comes to what they want to be when they grow up. But Garcia was not one of those kids. Over the years, he has always had one goal in mind.

As a kid, Garcia always knew he wanted to have a job in which he could be involved in public service. He had many role models throughout the years, but none was more important to him than his own family.

Garcia’s grandfather was on the city council when Garcia was just a child, and ever since then he has considered his grandfather his leading role model.

Now the dream has finally come true.

Effective on Nov. 1, Garcia was promoted to a new position within Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s office. Garcia’s new title will now be director of legislative affairs.

Garcia will be working as a liaison from the governor’s office to the West Virginia legislature. He will work with 100 members of the House of Delegates and 34 senators.

Garcia almost can’t believe his dream is coming true right in front of his very own eyes…
