Ex-lawmaker Wooton to run for WV high court

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Beckley attorney Bill Wooton announced Thursday he will make a bid for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals in 2016.

“Now is the time,” Wooton, a former state senator and delegate, said.

 He said past plans to run for a seat on the state’s highest court were delayed because of his friend Joe Albright’s ultimately successful run and later because of changes in his law firm.

“I have extraordinary respect for this body and the work that the justices do for West Virginia,” Wooton said.

According to the Secretary of State’s website only two other candidates have announced their intention to run — incumbent Brent Benjamin and Beth Walker…
