CHARLESTON, W.Va. — If you’re one of the lucky Marshall fans heading to Florida for the Boca Raton Bowl this week, or a West Virginia University fans traveling to Memphis for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl next week, here’s a short travel guide to make the most of your time and sample some of the local culture.

MEMPHIS – WHAT TO EAT

You don’t go to Memphis without eating some barbecue.

And if you’re going to eat barbecue, head to the original Central BBQ on Central Aveue.

First opened in 2002, this restaurant has won numerous awards for its food, and has been featured on the Food Network and in the pages of “USA Today,” “Garden & Gun,” “Southern Living” and “Men’s Health.”

The menu includes everything from ribs and pork to chicken, turkey and even bologna. All of the meat is smoked in-house, over a combination of pecan and hickory woods.

Visit www.cbqmemphis.com for more information.

If smoked meats don’t strike your fancy, make the 45 minute drive to Mason, Tenn. and visit Gus’s Fried Chicken.

The menu is limited, but the restaurant is “famous the world over” — their words — for their crispy, golden brown chicken.
