Cheney to keynote W.Va. Chamber annual summit

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Former Vice President Dick Cheney will address a ballroom full of West Virginia’s political and economic elites as the keynote speaker at the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s annual business summit at The Greenbrier resort next week.

Cheney will speak with his daughter, Liz Cheney, who served in the State Department during President George W. Bush’s administration, while her father was vice president.

They will give a speech promoting a new book they wrote jointly — to be released Sept. 1 — titled “Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Powerful America.”

“We have long aspired to have the nation’s leaders at our meeting,” said Chamber of Commerce President Steve Roberts. “There seems to be a very high interest in hearing from former Vice President Cheney.

“We are hopeful that he will talk about his views on our country’s role in the world.”

Roberts said that he expected Liz Cheney to have as prominent a speaking role as her father and said he anticipated the speech to be a sort of dialogue between the two…
