CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Speaking to a standing-room-only crowd in the mayoral conference room at city hall, Charleston Mayor Danny Jones announced Tuesday he will seek a record fourth term in office.
Jones, 64, is a Republican who has been in office since 2003. He said he felt achievements in city management, infrastructure and tourism since he took office served as the basis for his decision to run again.
“There’s a list of things we’ve been able to accomplish, and the one thing I’ve learned here, when you stay here just four years it’s really not easy to accomplish anything, it’s not easy to establish continuity,” he said. “One of the things we’ve been able to establish is a really good work culture of service among the people that work here.”
The press conference was attended by numerous city, county and state officials…
