Capito raises $1.3 million, Tennant $777,000

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito raised $1.3 million in the latest fundraising quarter, about a half-million dollars more than her Democratic opponent, West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant.

Capito’s additional money puts the campaign above $7.1 million raised since she announced her candidacy in late 2012 and gives the congresswoman “nearly” $5 million cash on hand.

“The strong outpouring of support for Shelley in fundraising for this quarter clearly shows that West Virginians want Shelley to keep working for them,” Capito spokeswoman Amy Graham said in a news release.

Tennant raised $777,000 from April 1 to June 30. That’s a little less than the campaign raised from Jan. 1 to March 30 — about $794,000 — when Tennant’s camp touted they were keeping pace with Capito.

Capito’s campaign raised about $817,000 during that time period.

The latest fundraising puts the total amount raised by the Tennant campaign above $2.4 million. They have about $1.5 million cash on hand…
