CHARLESTON, W.Va. — With its third floor nearly finished and only four months until construction is slated to be completed, Charleston Area Medical Center’s new Cancer Center is starting to take shape.
The new Cancer Center, located in Kanawha City at the former site of Watt Powell Park, is on schedule to be finished in February, and the hospital system will spend two months moving equipment into the building and finalizing everything in time for the facility to begin accepting patients in May. Dale Wood, chief quality officer for CAMC, said the facility is poised to be a major improvement over the hospital’s current treatment facilities.
“We’ve been planning this thing for four years, which included meeting with clinicians and staff from across the community, identifying the needs of cancer patients in this region, and looking at the current trends in cancer care and where they’re headed over time,” Wood said…
