BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Bridgeport-based technology firm Allegheny Science & Technology has secured an $85 million blanket purchase agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy, the company announced Tuesday.
The agreement will see Allegheny Science & Technology performing “mission oriented technical support services in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy,” according to the company’s press release.
Craig Ridley, Allegheny’s vice president of business development, said Tuesday that most of the new work will start in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, with “the potential for some of the work to be performed out in Colorado.”
Ridley explained that the $85 million blanket purchase agreement is essentially an “umbrella contract that allows the government to efficiently request tasks to be delivered.”
As for the local impact of the new agreement, Ridley said there’s also the “potential to add some back office support in the form of new job opportunities” at the company’s Bridgeport headquarters.
However, Ridley said securing the $85 million purchase agreement to work for the U.S. Department of Energy will help the company continue to expand and prove itself as a government contractor.
