MEDIA ADVISORY: House to Convene, host State of the State address (Jan. 10)

WHO & WHAT: Members of the West Virginia House of Delegates will convene for the second regular session of the 86th Legislature. Of the 100 House members, 89 are Republicans. Members will adopt organizational resolutions as well as conduct additional House business before recessing until later in the evening.

The House of Delegates will host Gov. Jim Justice, members of the West Virginia Senate, the Board of Public Works, West Virginia Supreme Court Justices and invited guests to hear the governor’s State of the State address; only ticketed guests will be permitted in the galleries.

WHEN & WHERE: noon Wednesday, Jan. 10 in the House Chamber; the House will reconvene in the evening.

At 6:45 p.m., members of the West Virginia Senate will proceed to the House Chamber to hear the Executive’s 7 p.m. address.  

All sessions of the House of Delegates are available for live streaming.

Other notes for media: The six seats at the House Chamber press tables will be available to credentialed media on a first-come, first-served basis with no more than one person per media outlet permitted. Seats may be claimed after the House adjourns from its mid-day floor session. Photography will be provided both from the noon session as well as the State of the State address.
