HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University will host an open house to highlight its Lifelong Learning Program, which is aimed at providing learning opportunities for people of all ages — without the added costs that are typically incurred with college tuition. The event will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, on its Huntington campus.
“I’ve always been a lifelong learner, but didn’t want to deal with writing papers, tuition or expensive textbooks,” said Freddie Tanner, an LLP charter member. “With encouragement from a friend who is part of a lifelong learning program in Montana, I reached out to others who were interested.”
Program membership benefits include free access to a monthly Tuesday Talks series, special member pricing for three- to six-week courses on art, history, politics, film and science, Marshall University library services, volunteer opportunities and more.
Charter member Diane Mufson says a Lifelong Learning Program membership makes a great gift for folks of all ages.
“This holiday season, if you are looking for a gift for a retired or ‘mature’ person, why not give the gift of an LLP membership,” Mufson said. “No wrapping is necessary!”
“Interactions with people from all walks of life expand your horizon,” said Tanner. “I hope I never graduate.”
The open house will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center on 5th Avenue. Refreshments will be provided.
The event is free and open to the public. Media are invited and encouraged to attend.
