Bluefield editor to keynote women’s conference

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Bluefield Daily Telegraph Editor Samantha Perry will deliver the keynote address Friday at the Professional Business Women’s Conference at Bluefield College.

Bluefield College is hosting the conference Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shott Hall. The program is designed to help today’s working women develop their leadership skills, business etiquette, health and technology knowledge, according to a college press release.

Titled “Rising to Excellence,” the day-long conference in BC’s Shott Hall will feature a keynote speaker, workshop sessions, lunch and a vendor’s hall. The sessions will be led by successful business and leadership experts from Southwest Virginia.

Headlining the women’s conference will be Perry, editor of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.

A graduate of Montcalm High School and Bluefield State College, Perry began her career as a reporter for the Telegraph in 1989. The following year, she was promoted to Lifestyles editor and remained in that role for a decade. In 2000, she was promoted to city editor, and less than two years later promoted again to managing editor. Today, she holds the highest position in the newsroom and is the first female to hold the editor’s role in the Telegraph’s 118-year history…
