CANAAN VALLEY, W.Va. — The Board of Directors of the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association this morning approved a resolution supporting 11 pipeline infrastructure projects to be constructed in 2017 and 2018.
The resolution came during the WVONGA fall meeting at Canaan Valley Resort.
Anne Blankenship, executive director WVONGA, said the pipelines have the potential to create approximately 80,000 jobs in the state of West Virginia and bordering states. Blankenship noted the jobs that will be created by the West Virginia Pipeline Infrastructure Projects will pay an average salary of $100,000, plus benefits per employee per year.
The WVONGA’s Board resolution states that the “West Virginia Pipeline Infrastructure Projects are shovel-ready, meaning that the pipe and materials are purchased and delivered; the contracts are awarded to contractors; all major permitting hurdles are complete; and all regulatory agencies have either completed processing regulatory approvals or are finalizing their approvals.”
Blankenship said the only approval required to commence construction on the West Virginia Pipeline Infrastructure Projects is the approval of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The resolution addresses the need for FERC approval, stating, The West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association overwhelmingly supports the West Virginia Pipeline Infrastructure Projects and encourages FERC to approve the applications pending before it for the West Virginia Pipeline Infrastructure Projects.
