CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For the first time in 31 years (and a week, because of delays caused by court proceedings), the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission’s high school football championships kick off Friday and Saturday at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field, in Charleston’s East End.
And for the first time, eight schools in four classes — rather than six schools in three — will compete to hoist the trophy in their respective classes. Here’s the lineup:
- Class A, Noon, Friday: No. 4 Cameron vs. No. 3 Wahama
- Class AA, 7 p.m., Friday: No. 2 Roane County vs. No. 1 Frankfort
- Class AAA: Noon, Saturday: No. 4 Herbert Hoover vs. No. 3 Bridgeport
- Class AAAA: 7 p.m., Saturday: No. 2 Spring Mills vs. No. 1 Martinsburg
