WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The 45th annual King Coal Festival will run from Sept. 14-17 in Williamson.

The Action in Mingo (AIM) organization founded this popular festival back in 1972. The group thought it was a way of honoring the coal mining heritage in the Tug Valley area.

Festival goers will be able to enjoy food and beverages, crafts vendors, air boat rides on the Tug River, horse and carriage rides, live music, a car show and much more.

Donovan and the Hillbilly Drive Band will perform at the upcoming King Coal Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16. More live music will be presented throughout the day.
