MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The St. Louis Cardinals drafted former WVU Baseball infielder JJ Wetherholt with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Despite spending nearly half of the 2024 season sidelined with a hamstring injury, Wetherholt managed eight home runs and 30 RBIs while batting .331 in 36 games.

Wetherholt is the first player in WVU Baseball history to be selected in the top-10 picks. He joins right-handed pitchers Chris Enochs and Alek Manoah as the only first-round selections in program history.
