From the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association:
Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia’s natural gas industry is working to help those communities and residents affected by the flooding in the north central and northern parts of the state, representatives announced today.
“West Virginians support one another in tough times,” said Anne Blankenship, executive director of the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association (WVONGA). “Our employees live and work all across West Virginia, including the flood affected areas, and we feel it is our duty to help in times of need. WVONGA members, including MarkWest, Antero, Southwestern Energy, Dominion and many others, were quick to respond with contributions of manpower, equipment and financial assistance.”
Blankenship said the industry has assisted in a variety of ways, to include:
– Sending industry employees to help with cleanup;
– Donating thousands of cases of water;
– Providing and/or cooking hundreds of meals for area residents and workers;
– Providing dump trucks, end loaders and dumpsters to help clear debris from yards and roadways;
– Collecting/delivering cleaning supplies, shovels, box fans, personal care items, totes and other needed items;
– Donating tens of thousands of dollars to the Red Cross to help those suffering loss of home, property, or without the basic essentials to survive.
“Our members were heavily involved in cleanup efforts in some of the hardest hit areas, like the City of McMechen, Hundred, the Village of Pine Grove, and Mannington, as well as across the region,” Blankenship said. “We’re proud to support recovery efforts and will continue to do everything we can.”
