West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Walker takes the stand in impeachment trial

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — Impeached West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Beth Walker said during her trial Monday that she regretted her role in excess spending by the court, but that her offenses don’t rise to the level of removal from office.

“I should have been a better steward of taxpayer dollars,” she said.

However, she added: “When I think about impeachment, I think about things like crimes and stealing and lying and corruption, and I don’t think I’ve done any of those things.”
