INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police welcomed a new cadet class of troopers Monday morning.
The new cadets, the state’s first since 2014, consist of a group of people who are already in law enforcement and will thus need less training than other new recruits.
Gov. Jim Justice attended the swearing in ceremony and administered the oath that new troopers take before they join the force. In a short speech, he praised their commitment to protecting the state.
