West Virginia Justices appointed to hear case against Jenkins, Armstead

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — Recently appointed state Supreme Court Justice Paul T. Farrell has appointed four justices to hear a case challenging the temporary appointments of outgoing Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., and former House Speaker Tim Armstead to the court and Jenkins’ election bid.

In an administrative order handed down Tuesday, Farrell appointed the following judges to preside over the case as justices:

  • Judge Russell M. Clawges Jr. of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, which serves Monongalia County;
  • Judge Timothy L. Sweeney of the Third Judicial Circuit, which serves Doddridge, Pleasants and Ritchie counties;
  • Judge H. Charles Carl III of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit, which serves Hampshire, Hardy and Pendleton counties;
  • Judge Richard Craig Tatterson of the Fifth Judicial Circuit, which serves Calhoun, Jackson, Mason and Roane counties.
