WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., in her weekly video address, talks about the State of the Union address, and joining U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., to welcome Vice President Mike Pence and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to West Virginia at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs:

Senator Capito’s Weekly Address to West Virginians for Friday, Feb. 2, 2018:

Below is the text of the message:

Hi everyone –

This was an exciting week in Washington, and in West Virginia.

On Tuesday, I was joined by my colleagues on the floor of the House of Representatives to hear President Trump’s first State of the Union address.

The president delivered an important reminder of what we as a country have accomplished in the past year, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The president also presented a clear and optimistic vision for the future.

It was a vision that is focused on strength and pride and built on bipartisanship.

That’s a vision I believe in and I am ready to help achieve it.

So let’s get to work.

I was also proud to welcome Vice President Mike Pence and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to West Virginia this week.

Together, we visited a business in White Sulphur Springs to see hardworking West Virginians in action, and to hear how comprehensive tax reform is making a real and positive difference in the lives of workers and families in West Virginia.

It was great to show the vice president and the secretary our incredible economic progress and potential.

The future looks bright!
