BECKLEY, W.Va. — The beautiful landscape of West Virginia will lend itself to another out-of-state attraction this September. Given what the event is, it should come as no surprise.
The 2018 National Whitewater Rafting Championships will be held this year on the New and Gauley rivers, as participants attempt to qualify for the world championship event.
“This is for the United States championship,” event organizer Mike Cassidy said. “Teams are invited from all of the 50 states to compete in eight different categories for the U.S. championship and the winners from each category qualify to represent the United States in the World Rafting championships in Australia in May of 2019.”
