U.S. Marshals are responsible for protecting the Federal judiciary, apprehending fugitives, transporting prisoners, and protecting witnesses. If confirmed, Baylous will serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Baylous has served with the WVSP since 1994, and prior to that served in the Marine Corps Reserves in Cross Lanes, West Virginia, from 1987 to 1995. He holds a M.A. in Government and Public Administration from Regent University, a B.A. in Political Science from West Virginia University, and an A.A. in Police Science from Marshall University.

Other nominations include Norman Euell Arflack, of Kentucky, who will serve the Eastern District of Kentucky; David G. Jolley, of Tennessee, who will serve the Eastern District of Tennessee; Daniel R. McKittrick, of Mississippi, who will serve the Northern District of Mississippi; and Jesse Seroyer Jr., of Alabama, who will serve the Middle District of Alabama.

A news release from the White House says all five candidates share the President’s vision for “Making America Safe Again.”
