CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Trials for current and former West Virginia Supreme Court justices and a ceremony for a new, temporary justice have filled up state government’s calendar for the first week of October.
Monday is set to mark the start of the first in a series of four scheduled impeachment trials when the West Virginia Senate convenes for the impeachment trial of Justice Beth Walker.
Walker’s trial is the fourth impeachment trial to take place in West Virginia’s history. Three impeachment trials have taken place in the state’s history, according to a 1989 impeachment guide from the House of Delegates. One of the trials ended when the official in question resigned from office mid-trial.
