Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum to scare up tourism in Weston (West Virginia)

WESTON, W.Va. — Halloween is just over a month away, but for one business in Weston, Halloween is coming early.

The Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, located in downtown Weston is a premier tourist destination for those seeking frights or those seeking historical knowledge, according to officials.

“We like to say that we are a destination,” said Michelle Graham, filming, events and haunt manager at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. “People who come here tend to do our flashlight tours and our haunted house.

“The asylum itself is such a draw. It’s really fun for us to offer a variety of options for people who are looking for something to get into the spirit of spooky season.”

This is definitely one of the peak seasons at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Graham said.

Chris Bailey, the executive director of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, said the asylum has a huge draw.

“Particularly during the Halloween season,” he said, “which is one of their high points of the year. It certainly draws people in who are coming in from out of state.
