HILLSBORO, W.Va. — A tornado touched down in Pocahontas County as a storm system moved through the southern region of the state Wednesday evening.
The tornado was spotted around 6:30 p.m. near the town of Hillsboro. The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for the area around 6 p.m.
“All I can tell you right now is that we are waiting on more information. We haven’t heard from the emergency manager for the county yet, and all we have right now is a video of the tornado touching down about a mile from Hillsboro and this is the first-ever tornado to touch-down in Pocahontas County, “ said meteorologist Simone Lewis.
