Two-Time National Champion and Heisman Trophy Winner Headlines Dinner Program for Prevention Education Golf Classic
West Virginia Press Association
Tim Tebow, a true champion both on and off the playing field, has agreed to deliver the keynote address at the fifth annual GameChanger/MVB Prevention Education Dinner and Golf classic May 28 and 29 at The Greenbrier Resort.
Tebow joins a distinguished list of luminaries who have delivered the keynote in previous years, including former Alabama football coach Nick Saban, award-winning country music artist Brad Paisley, former North Carolina Hall of Fame and national championship basketball coach Roy Williams and award-winning actress Jennifer Garner.
Tebow, a former first-round NFL draft pick and professional baseball player, is a five-time New York Times best-selling author and has also distinguished himself as a speaker and college football analyst, but he is most passionate and proud of his work with the Tim Tebow Foundation, whose mission is to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. Fighting for some of the most vulnerable people around the world, the foundation is doing work in more than 90 countries.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to attend and speak at the GameChanger Prevention Education Dinner. Our young people are one of God’s greatest gifts and too many lives are lost to fentanyl, opioids, and addiction,” Tebow says. “GameChanger has stepped into the fight, bringing real hope and solutions, and I am honored to stand with them in this mission.”
GameChanger founder and executive director Joe Boczek says attracting a person the caliber of Tebow speaks volumes for the work GameChanger is doing.
“Tim Tebow is as good of a person there is and to have his support is a compliment to all the hard work everyone on our team is doing,” Boczek says. “Prevention education is challenging but the lives of the youth in West Virginia and the nation are worth every hour of every minute of every day.”
GameChanger chairman of the board Larry Puccio says he is especially gratified to attract a person of Tebow’s caliber and is so pleased with the work GameChanger is doing in the schools and communities throughout West Virginia.
“The fact that a person the caliber of Tim Tebow, who is doing such fabulous work with our youth and adults around the world, thought enough to make time to speak at our GameChanger event speaks volumes of the good work we are doing throughout West Virginia.”
Puccio also made note of the success GameChanger has had helping schools comply with Laken’s Law, passed by the progressive West Virginia Legislature mandating Fentanyl and Opioid Prevention Education in West Virginia’s middle and high schools beginning this school year.
“Because the West Virginia Legislature had the foresight to pass Laken’s Law, more than 150,000 students in 167 middle and high schools have been able to comply with Laken’s Law as a result of the program available free of charge to all schools in West Virginia via the GameChanger website www.gamechangerusa.org.”
